Based on a recommendation from a friend, we stopped here for brunch and we sure were glad we did. The decor inside was terrific but since the day was nice, we decided to eat outside on the patio. We had the Riverhouse Salad, Smoked Salmon Bagel and the Brazilian Breakfast. Everything was amazing, the waitress was great and the prices were reasonable. I imagine this place would have a fantastic atmosphere at night, so hopefully we can check it out on another roadtrip.
The Riverhouse dished out an excellent Eggs Benny. The setting was cozy and comfortable. Service and staff were great. Popped in to the lounge beside the restaurant and loved the ambience. Any place that has a chainsaw feature is my kind of place!
This is the second time I ate at this restaurant. The first time was for appetizers only and the second was for a meal. The appetizers are generous in portion and variety to choose from for a family or couple. The V-Day dinner was excellent overall however the steak was overdone for medium rare and the price for the meal was. The service was excellent and appropriate for a booked evening. The Aspen struggled for 2 years in dealing with staffing issues to open beyond breakfast and to dinner. Would recommend it for the future; reservations may be required to get in during special days.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem was the food wasn't great. To much salt on every thing. The pricing for what they provided is ridiculous. Great atmosphere. Just get the food together guy's and this could be a great place. Kid-friendliness: The kids menu is expensive. $20.00 for a kids burger? Rediculous.
Terrible breakfast. I ordered the $20+ eggs benny. The english muffin was not toasted. When I cut into the eggs a bunch of water came out and my english muffins got soggy. The Hollandaise was totally separated, oily and gross. Definitely not made from scratch. There wasn't even a slice of orange or any kind of fruit on the plate. For something that likely cost about $5 to make or less the quality of food I got was not worth being charged $20+. I sent it back. The waitress was very gracious and did not charge us for it. Definitely will not return to eat here.
Had the deep fried pickles and the fish & chips. Excellent. Never had a bad meal or experience here. I never give full marks on reviews. Just the way I roll.
Really weird deal. Didn’t let you eat indoors. No explanation. Ran out of food and shut the kitchen by 6:45pm. Servers never came by to refill drinks. The food we did get was really good. Besides cold fries. They did bring us hot fries after some gentle persuasion. Didn’t really want to but we asked again.
Had breakfast several times here. Always great. Good quality and decent portion sizes for skillet, omelets and Benny's. Inside and outside seating options. Service is great. More staff here than most other restaurants. Only way to make this place better would be to open an hour earlier! Hint hint
Really good breakfast! It's a little bit more expensive, but you get lots of food, and it's all really good. Service was really friendly and they made sure coffee was kept topped up.
Absolutely the best fast friendly service here! Wheelchair friendly! Best place in Smithers,BC!
