If you're looking for authentic Northern Chinese cuisine in Toronto, this is one of those restaurants that has truly stood the test of time. The original Chinatown location has been serving the community since 1988, and after our Father's Day lunch, I was reminded exactly why it's still so popular nearly four decades later.nEverything we ordered was delicious. The cold chicken noodles with cucumber and peanut sauce were incredibly refreshing, and adding a spoonful of chili oil made the flavours really come alive. The beef brisket noodle soup was fragrant, comforting, and packed with tender pieces of beef. One of the biggest surprises was the seasonal summer dumplings—they looked like pot stickers but were unbelievably juicy inside, almost like a pan-fried soup dumpling. Dipped in black vinegar, they were absolutely outstanding.nThe shrimp and chive pockets have been one of my favourite dishes here for years. Filled with shrimp, chives, vermicelli, and scrambled egg, they're crispy on the outside and incredibly satisfying. We also ordered the stir-fried chicken and green bean noodles from the lunch special menu, which arrived with plenty of wok hei and that unmistakable fresh-from-the-wok aroma. Even the complimentary corn soup was comforting don't forget to add white pepper!, and we finished with the hot, crispy red bean pancake, which wasn't overly sweet—the perfect ending to the meal.nWhat really elevated our experience was the service. Jackie, the manager, was so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. She made everyone feel at home and ensured we had everything we needed, adding a personal touch that you don't always find these days.nThe restaurant is spacious, the portions are generous, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the menu has something for everyone. Whether you're dining with family, celebrating with a larger group of friends, or looking for a reliable venue for a corporate lunch or dinner, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant. It's a Toronto institution for a reason, and I'll happily continue coming back for many more years.
I actually really like Asian Legend and always find the dishes here quite tasty. The atmosphere here was nicer than previous Asian legends I’ve been to granted those have closed down sadly. It was very big. We wanted to go somewhere for CNY and they were nice enough to give us a last minute reso was very much a “we will try our best to accommodate” unlike a lot of other place we went to that were straight up rude. I really like their soup dumplings xiao long bao, it’s very juicy and you can see it is made fresh. I also like their Peking duck! I think the pine fish or whatever it’s called is on the weaker side it tastes like sweet and sour sauce was just poured over fired fish. The string beans were cooked very well. we had a chicken cold dish that kind of just tasted like peanut butter was poured on it. I would say to stick w the classics and not try anything too funky here. The service was great, granted a little slow bc of Chinese new year. Also it was a bit pricier than I thought.
One of the rare places that still have a strong Cantonese serving staff that is quick yet courteous. The food here is quick and has the right flavours, if anything I can ask for them to hold on the salt for the senior members eating out.nnI give this place 4 stars because they are one of the last places that serve a piping hot and freshly made “” aka Meringue Sugar Donut made with whipped egg whites and with just enough red bean paste inside. Many chefs fail to deliver as it goes flat or they don’t hold up. In my photo you see a nicely rounded donut that was just right. Not too sweet but just enough and the server brought it after the main meal for us as dessert.nnI would eat here again just for this dessert. And service was great - hot tea/water always refilled and soup was served for us into our bowls even for a small soup for 4!nnWashrooms are clean which is always important
Food, staff and atmosphere were all an amazing experience for all my family and guests that were hosted. We had chosen to have our Son’s Baptism Celebration here at this location about 2 weeks ago on July 11th, 2026 and we are so happy we did. We have life long memories that we are so thankful for. We had 50 people in total and we all were so well taken care of by Manager Jackie and his entire staff. Thank you to Asian Legend, Manager Jackie and his Entire Staff for such a great memorable experience we will never forget.
My favorite to go place for hot & sour soup for almost 18 years. The pork dumplings r must order dish whenever we came for dinner. Luckily, I have moved, & used to go to the one @ brimley & sheppard but glad that they have one at don mills.
