Horrible customer service from this shop in HAMDEN !! Branford is great They refused to sanitize the milkshake wand for me I HAVE A NUT ALLERGY every other Ashley’s ice cream and ice cream shops in general wash if for that purpose they have to !! So furious
I come here at least 3-4 times a month with my boyfriend since it’s so close to us. I loooove the coffee Oreo, lemon graham vegan seasonal flavor, and honey comb seasonal. My boyfriend’s favorites are black raspberry and cookie dough.
I've had a lot of ice cream in my day so when I was in my girlfriend's hometown, she took me to her favorite neighborhood spot and it did not disappoint. Creamy, rich, and delicious. The place is covered in drawings made by customers about Ashley's and apparently it takes a while for your drawing to get up there which gives it a community feel. Coming from Boston, I was pleasantly surprised by the portions this place gives when they say "two scoops"...it's a hefty portion. Two was enough!

Ashley's Ice Cream has quickly become one of my favorite ice cream places in CT. The black raspberry flavor is hands down one of the best, and paired with another chocolate flavor it makes a great combo. I wish the flavors were regularly updated on the website since they tend to be different than what is available in-store. Also would love to see more tart or experimental flavors. But for the price its a nice place to pick up a quick sweet craving!
The ice-cream are always good! However, it would be great if the staff wore gloves when distributing cones. Whom wants to eat a cone when it has already been touched by the cashier's hand or anyone's bare hand at that? CERTAINLY NOT I SAID THE BIH. Get it together staff. I use to work in food service so don't think I don't know how food handling skills should be presented in the work area. Trust me I do know.
The ice cream was very good. The staff could be a bit more engaging and cheerful. The lack of enthusiasm puts my next visit as a "maybe". What's the point in returning if you don't feel you'll have a pleasant experience?
In all my years of going to Ashley, I've never had an experiemce like this before. You're better off going to New Haven. This is the 5th time I've gone to Ashleys and can't get a banana split. The same girl always says they are out of stock. But I can't believe they never have bananas! Stay away from the Hamden location.
The employees were very friendly. The ice cream was ok. It was disappointing to see the employees scoop ice cream without wearing gloves. No hand washing occurred between making orders and handling money/credit cards. One was using her shirt to wipe her hands. Willing to give the place another shot if food safety is addressed.
