It is absolutely worth the trip! I was so amazed bye everything at this provincial Park! I will definitely be going back as soon as possible. The beaches are beautiful and the waterfall is awesome! Big bend is a spectacular view with some amazing history behind it! The trails are so much fun and the camp sites are very private and well maintained! This Park is very big so give yourself time to see everything during your visit. There is also a dog beach for your best furry friend to have the best day ever! I would highly recommend checking this place out. You won't regret it.
Very beautiful park, especially during autumn. It starts to get packed after 11 so recommended to go early if you're only planning a day trip. There are many beautiful trails and beach segments for a nice outdoor meals. Camping permits are limited so book ahead. Day pass costs 21 dollar at the time of my visit 2022 Oct
What an experience it was for my camping this summer. Beautiful park with good camp sites and super clean. The lake side view was amazing. The canyoning and kayaking was really good. A must visit place for summers. Will visit in the falls to see the falls colors.
Arrowhead is a favorite summer park and I'm lucky I got the chance to rent a rustic cabin for 2 nights this winter. The skating trail is beautiful, just be conscious of timing as it closes throughout the day for flooding and maintenance. The ski trails were thin bases and needed to be groomed but overall, they are beautiful. We stuck to East River and Roe to ski as we had first timers, and they are pancake flat, so highly recommend for anyone wanting to try cross country skiing. Couple notes... there are only 1 or 2 cabins with an outhouse, be conscious that you have to walk about 500m to the comfort station we were in cabin 219. Not sure why the outhouse right outside our cabin wasn't open, but be aware as it's long for kids to trek or in the middle of the night. Skate rentals are for 3 hours only $15 and if you keep them all day or overnight it's double the cost. And check out is quite early at 10am check in is 4pm. Overall we had a great experience, the cabin was perfect, the park is absolutely beautiful in the winter. Highly recommend a visit, even if just for the day.
Beautiful winter park. Ski trails are top notch, usually groomed to perfection. The arrowhead lake loop And beaver meadow loop are peaceful and very scenic. The ice trail is a gem. The fire & ice is a very cool experience. Be careful near the fire pits for uneven ice! Stubbs falls loop is a nice winter hike too This isn’t a secret - be prepared to book in advance if you want to get in!
Started from the Big Bend lookout, it was magnificent. Then walked the Stubbs Falls trail, it was a easy and short trail. The bridge and falls were picturesque. Stopped at Arrowhead Lake, the view there was awesome. Hiked the Mayflower Lake trail, it was an easy and short route though it has some steep slopes. The lake view was beautiful.
Had a blast! Alot of the trails were only open for skiing but there were a couple walking trails open. The fire and ice skate was beautiful, we got on the ice right as it opened for the evening at 6pm, around 7pm is when it got really busy. The day time skate was equally as enjoyable and was less busy. Arrive early for a good parking spot as it can fill up quickly on weekends.
We camped in a cabin for four days three nights and it was wonderful. The weather for the week in July was great. The park was beautiful and peaceful. We went spent a full day at the beach one day, went Canoeing on our last morning down the east river which was very fun. My kids enjoyed themselves and want to go back next year.
My daughter and I stayed in one of the roofed accomodations and had a wonderful stay. The staff at this park are especially kind and caring. The wardens patrolled regularly and we're professional and courteous. It was a longer drive from our home to come to this park but we will certainly return over other closer parks. Our friends recommended it to us and they were so right. Have a great visit.
15 minutes drive from Huntsville, Arrowhead park is for nature lovers. Well maintained park. Lot of hiking trails, camping areas. Most main trails can be completed in a whole day including the one leading to Stubb's falls. Do visit the Big Bend lookout. Lot of photo opportunities. A visit in the fall season will be wonderful here.
