Today was a good day here.. food came out prepared the way we ordered it, within reasonable time, and also got free pie.. (for my daughters birthday)

My wife and I had a pretty disappointing experience yesterday at AFR. Several aspects of the evening were not acceptable, putting things as gently as I can. First off was the lack of cleanliness. Tables had been cleaned, but definitely not much else. Lots of dust and dozens of fly corpses on the window sills. Didn't do much to set the mood. We had eaten here a couple months ago, and things had really improved over their initial inconsistency. However, the food was very inconsistent this time. Good soup, chicken and dumplings, heavy on the dumplings. Good breaded pork chop, but not hot. Stale potatoes, and mixed veggies overcooked into the consistency of baby food. Tacos were on special all you can eat. They were ok, quality soft corn tortillas, fresh veg, but there was no taco seasoning used. Luckily there was tobasco available. Hot tea water came properly hot the first time, barely warm the second. Like it had been taken from the sink tap at 120 degrees. This doesn't make hot tea. Service was prompt, but clueless. No idea what comes with anything. No idea what comes on a taco. No idea that burgers come with fries. Forgot the soup initially because the computer is set up wrong, and she didn't know it had to come with soup or salad. Didn't know the taco special was all you can eat. She was also not trained on any sort of customer service, it seemed. No empathy, or too confused for empathy. Likely not her fault she was thrown into the fire. Seemed short staffed. There were a few silver linings. It was inexpensive for what it was. Portions are of decent size, but of very inconsistent quality. Tables and floor were mostly clean. Lots of empty seating. But for us there were too many glaring problems, and it wasn't the first time it's happened here. We won't be back.

They make amazing food and one of the waitresses was super nice she was one of the newer ones like from two months ago I believe her name was Rachel
