I have enjoyed Applebees in many other states but I wasn’t happy with this one in Grand Forks. I came to enjoy appetizers that I usually do. 1 the food portions were smaller than what I am used to in other places…the pictures for the waffle fries online on their menu look like there are a bunch of fries but I didn’t see many on my plate, 2 the chicken wonton tacos were lacking any flavor except for the skin which was a fun and light version of wonton crisps but in shell form…the tacos only had mayo based coleslaw and the chicken but I asked to Substitute Shrimp and the friendly waitress said she could have the kitchen Substitute chicken for Shrimp so I was happy at first BUT when the bill came I was charged $4 that she didn’t tell me about which confused me and disappointed me because the waitress said a substitute was fine and didn’t tell me I would be charged extra, 3 the chips with the spinach with artichoke dip had way too much salt all over them so I had to rub it all off from each chip. 4 salsa for the chips were too spicy. I won’t be returning to this Applebees. But that’s mostly because I was told I would be able to substitute shrimp for chicken so I assumed that meant, in any food establishment, that it would mean I am not charged. So I didn’t like that I was not told or given a choice of keeping it all vegetarian with extra veggies since I don’t eat chicken or any kind of meat. But I would be afraid of being charged for the extra vegetables daré I ask.
I always ordered the alfredo there, and I trusted they'd get my order right. After I made my long drive home out of town, I open the box to dry oiled noodles. I called for a refund and immediately, Jake, the manager, argues "I bagged it and saw it myself so....our Alfredo's are lightly sauced...I saw the guy put it on there...you just need to mix it..." and got mixed answers about getting a refund. First it was "I can't just refund one item, I can only do the entire order" okay cool. I even offered to keep the order overnight since they closed soon and give them my entire order back the next day for a refund so he could process an entire refund because I literally lost my appetite with the entire situation unfolding how it did. but bottom line, they "don't give out refunds". Interesting. I literally grabbed the noodles to make sure I wasn't just over reacting. And surprise, as my sauce free hands and noodles show, there was no sauce. Just oily noodles :
Rude and tired waitress. Not friendly. Didn't come back to check if food was ok. Which wasn't. Cold mashed potatoes for both orders, we had to ask another waitress to get her. We ordered the bourbon chicken n shrimp. Chicken was blah. Allison T. Came back with check 13 min till close n gave us the ticket n bolted to the back. Had to get gal at bar to check us out. Hands down only good thing was the Pepsi and my salad.
Ordered spinach artichoke dip…. I got melted cheese, on a spoon full of spinach artichoke dip. Do better. That’s a full on rip off.
Very good, flavourful food, fast, friendly staff, and a cozy, warm environment!Food: 5/5
UPDATE...4-29-22. in my opinion, the best bartenders in town. They have really built up a full bar of regular patrons thru good service and over the top customer relations!. Great value. Its great to see the staff get back to the friendly neighborhood mindset! Cue cheers theme song
I got a lunch size box for a dinner entrée I measured the rice it was 3 tablespoons of rice in the meal. Very dissatisfied I should not have to eat a snack after ordering a 20 dollar entrée from Applebees.
Server was nice, food was okay. My wings felt like they had been sitting and cooled before I even got them. The shrimp was undercooked that came on my chicken entree which was disappointing. Otherwise everything else tasted great.
Service was good. Short wait. Food portion was disappointing and for the money not a value. Better deal to be found elsewhere. No two for deals for me again. Meh. Came hungry and went home to get a meal after the snack.....sigh.Food: 2/5
Carside to go at 5:38...went inside at 5:52 no food ready. Really? Girl came out of the back 5 minutes later with 6 bags in her hand...apparently she was on break? My fries were cold and my French onion soup was a soaked crouton with unmelted swiss cheese and a tablespoon of broth. I went back to the restaurant and was told that the comedian in town threw things off. Really??? It has been known for months he was coming. New fries, new soup which looked like they separated the original cheese and added broth. Was told I would not be charged...we'll see. Rate -1
