Walking into Apple Saddlery, the smell of leather and the warm barn board walls are reminiscent of an old-fashioned general store. To the left, it’s packed floor to ceiling with Outdoor Clothing, footwear, accessories and gadgets. To the right, you’ll see Saddles, horse tack and riding apparel.
An independently owned Ottawa family business, Apple Saddlery opened its doors in 1972 selling horse riding equipment and rider’s clothing. Shortly thereafter, the store started selling top quality outdoor clothing and footwear from their 10,000 square-foot converted barn. The store rests on a farm in the city, and sometimes you can catch a glimpse of horses or cows in the field out front, an oasis from the rest of Innes road’s big box stores.
Apple Saddlery carries a unique selection of some of the best outdoor brands in the world, including The North Face, Birkenstock, Mephisto, Merrell, Sorel, Columbia, Woolrich, Blundstone, Australian Outback Collection, Lole, Keen, Carhartt, Tilley, Timberland and many more. No matter the season, Apple Saddlery has you covered. You’ll find racks packed full of hundreds of winter jackets, shirts, pants, gloves, accessories and other cool stuff.
After you’re all geared up to hit the outdoors, head over to the Equestrian side of the store to visit a horse lover’s paradise. We stock hundreds of brands, not limited to Stubben, Billy Cook, Pikeur, Eskadron, Bates, GPA, Circle Y, Trainer’s Choice, Weaver, Charles Owen, BR, Grand Prix, Joules, Ariat, Arista and Barnsby. Hours can easily slip by while wandering the store, taking time to look at almost everything a horse owner could ever want. We often find ourselves answering questions for non-horsey people who have found themselves drawn to the impressive wall of saddles.

Row upon row of Merrell, Sorel, The North Face, Columbia, Timberland and Blundstone footwear make it easy for almost everyone to find what they’re looking for. The hardest part will be choosing just one pair!
