We very much enjoyed Anemone although it would be considered more of a special occasion outing rather than everyday eatery. The menu is eclectic to say the least and would be difficult to classify other than as a "modern" cuisine. A lot of effort went into the dishes themselves, which are realized through many complex tastes that each dish brings...although they are frequently not inter-related with one another one dish has Asian flavors while another is continental, etc.... For our meal we had the 3 option Temaki which is essentially a Japanese taco using seaweed and rice. Our 3 options were with mushrooms, shrimp and artic char...all are good but you need to enjoy the "sea" flavor that seaweed brings to any dish. Additionally, we ordered the bone marrow with shrimp very good...served with small pieces of flat bread so it should be eaten like a taco spreading the bone marrow and then adding the shrimp to it, scallops with lentils and bacon excellent...very tasty, scallops were seared perfectly with a bacon flavored cream sauce and black lentils, and a Creamed Duck filled Ravioli excellent...this was a special of the night and was very complex with a reduction sauce that was difficult to described but had hints of beef to it, including large raisins and sprinkled with buckwheat. As you can see a complex and eclectic offering. Service was excellent. Meals were served very quickly with a detailed description at each interval. Additionally, the back outside patio/terrace is a real bonus...being secluded, airy and quiet with a full opening to the interior restaurant which also has a warm some what industrial concrete and wood décor. Great for a special night out. Enjoy! Parking: This area has a lot of residential permit parking. If you arrive at/around 6pm you should be able to find street parking...otherwise you may have to drive around a bit.
I was here a couple of days ago and came out disappointed. I find that many restos these days are more concerned with what the dish looks like and its description rather than the actual taste of the dish. I found that the descriptions/presentations of the dishes outstanding but the actual dishes did not taste like what they were prescribed to be. Mismatched flavors/textures to the point that you do not know what you are eating, just a mishmash of tastes with no specific direction. It is an expensive resto, $280 before tip for 2. Includes 6 beer and 2 calvados. There are too many up and coming restos in Montreal to return to this place.
Everything we ordered was amazing. The scallops, arctic char, the shishito peppers and the duck were all on point. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The dessert with the fried chicken skin was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I would definitely go back.Food: 5/5
Amazing experience. Food was awesome, wine list had lots of fun choices and atmosphere was chill. Only issue is small menu, so as much as we want to go back will need to wait until it changes more.
Husband and I had a lovely meal and enjoyed 5 dishes to share plus dessert and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, we both had food poisoning shortly after. We had not shared any other meals that day. I do not have a sensitive stomach by any means so quite disappointing.
We are a group of 4, so we got to try most of the menu; our fav was the tuna, the duck with chanterelle, and the shishito pepper with the creamiest corn sauce!. The service was warm, friendly, and, more importantly, knowledgeable staff. Her recommendation for wine throughout was right on. I now have another fav place in MTL to add on my already long list
Little dinner in one of the best restaurants in Canada Veal Breads, Green Vegetables, Sabayon, Brisque, and Braised and shredded Quebec pork cheek mixed with eggplant caviar, salt, fermented black peach, wrapped in blanched collard greens.
Amazing first experience during their opening week. The service was great, the food phenomenal and I absolutely loved the open kitchen concept. We had a seat at the counter in front of the kitchen and it was really cool to see how well everything flowed between the staff. The service team was just as talented and tightly knit. The food was balanced, delicious, the plating was beautiful and you have to try one of their desserts! I’m not even a dessert person and I think it was my favorite dish <3 Will definitely be going back.
Great first impression from Anemone! Love the open kitchen concept. Food was phenomenal, especially the biang biang noodles and kale salad.
Beyond expectations although I should have known given the chefs/owners, a new favourite for sure! Delicious seasonal menu, amazing service, great wine list raw wines only and cocktail menu. Couldn't be less pretentious, but yet delivering on an amazing culinary experience! Definitely highly recommend!!Food: 5/5
