The cook was friendly. The owner seemed rude. No greeting at all. He was Vacuuming but didn't turn it off till 4 minutes after being there and trying to hear the ladies. He doesn't seem pleasant. Fries weren't cooked all the way but didn't to complain w the heaviness felt in the air. Maybe next time thi gs will be better...wish them well.
Always a good Chicago staple. Polish with all the stuff. For lunch . Not supposed to be about atmosphere. Just the dawg. Or in my case the polish. Fries come with it. And hot. Don't burn your tongue!.Food: 4/5
I went in there today for the first time. The food was great and the owner was very nice we had a conversation while I waited for my ordered. I got a gyro it had plenty of meat and it tasted great!!
Very friendly service and quite an old world diner atmosphere. Highly recommend them. Great Chicago dogs and polish sausages.Food: 5/5
We have driven past this restaurant a hundred times and never stopped in. I'm sorry it took us so long! On Saturday, I enjoyed the most tender Italian beef I've ever had. We also enjoyed a couple of Chicago-style hot dogs all beef, NO KETCHUP and tasty french fries. Our food was made fresh for us and served hot. Customer service was excellent - the owner could not have been more welcoming. They also sell shirts to raise money to help support our veterans. The owner is, himself, a Vietnam veteran who fought for our country. We will definitely be back!
Long time staple in the portage community, nobody does it like them! Always excellent service and quality food cooked with passion.Food: 5/5
I STOPPED GOING HERE because the owner is SOOO RUDE AND WORKERS THERE DRESS INAPPROPRIATE. SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE.I posted these pics and a great rating a year ago. At that time the food was good. The owner and staff weren't friendly and service was ok. IDK... ITS REALLY SAD. I GREW UP GOING TO THIS PLACE. THEY DON'T APPRECIATE YOU'RE BUSINESS... BOTTOM LINE.
Grumpy Gus behind the counter. Made me pay $.25 for a glass of water. "The water's free. The quarter is for ice, cup, lid, straw." I understand he's a veteran, and I appreciate that, but if you want repeat business, you'll smile and not charge for water. Omit the ice and lid. I don't drink carbonated or sweetened beverages. No restroom either. The hot dog was "ok". No sport peppers so it's not Chicago style right off the bat. Parking: Big lot shared by several businesses.
My wife and I just finished eating lunch at Andy's. The food was delicious. Couple of Chicago Dogs and Fries. The only downside was the owner was friendly. We wanted the grumpy guy we have always heard about... The owner was very friendly and explained the business with us. We decided you have to chose...Great food or a smile...
The guy at the counter was not very friendly. He was actually more interested in his puzzle he was doing.Food: 1/5
