Let me just start by saying we believed we had a very inexperienced server, first thing, she never told us her name at all when she came to our table, my wife order the pork schnitzel with the mushroom gravy sauce, and the gravy tasted like it was from the bottom of the pot wasn’t that great and the schnitzel itself tasted like it sat in grease for a while before I came to our table it was pretty much unbeatable Mine on the other hand was a pork schnitzel with hot banana peppers and mine was very very good, appetizers we ordered sampler sausage platter which was good mixed salad which was very good and I ordered the cream of cauliflower and received and Minestrone soup trying to get our waitress attention she ignored us called over another server asked what soup was this she said it was a minestrone I said I ordered the cream of cauliflower soup we ran out of that soup of course my server never said nothing and just brought the wrong soup I would have just got a salad as well if she had said something , so at the end when she finally came over and asked how our meal was, we told her about my wife’s meal and all she said was I’m sorry you didn’t like it would you like to get a Dessert so you can get the bad taste out of your mouth, right then and there we knew she was a rookie. To many places to eat at to go back to the place where you have a bad experience at, if they had comped my wife’s meal then yes I would have tried them again but they didn’t so we won’t. On to the next!
We are happy we decided to try this place. The soup was a great start and had the Jager schnitzel. It was really good. We didn't leave room for desert but the options sounded inviting. Our server was also very informative and helpful. We would love to return when we visit Kingston again.
A few bumps on the way but a good meal. Seven of us went to dinner; one entrée was missed, so the rest of us had pretty well finished when it came. The server did waive the charge for the missed entrée. Soup of the day was presented as mushroom soup, but it was chicken soup when it made it to the table. The Pfeffer Schnitzel was very good featuring a healthy size piece of pork. Chicken Paprikasch was also very good.
One of my favourite places to go in Kingston! I'd recommend the rouladen if you're not big on schnitzel!
I was told that this was the best schnitzel in Kingston and I would agree that it was very good but I wasn't blown away. Maybe the expectation was set very high or the fact that they were incredibly busy and were very straight to the point, no chitchat whatsoever. Even with that, the food was quite good, portions were huge and beside from the absolutely horrendous potatoes that were barely cooked, everything was recommendable. Probably won't be going back but enjoyed the experience nonetheless.
What an awesome experience on the Amadeus patio! A jewel of a spot in the heart of downtown Kingston. I had the Holstein Sheitzel in the photo and was absolutely satisfied with the taste and portion. Come hungry if you want to tackle this bad boy! Loved the German beer selection as well. Definately recommend.
We were sooo excited to try this new cuisine we've never had before! Went in at 8pm on a Saturday and got a table right away. The ambiance was perfect for a quiet date with my boyfriend. The beer was delicious. We had one of the tofu schnitzels with the daily soup. The soup was amazing and so was the tofu! Great combinations of ingredients, perfectly cooked veggies and the portions were super satisfying. To top it all off, it wasn't very expensive compared to other places! The service was great as well. Will for sure come back and recommend. Vegetarian options: Many delicious options with tofu there is a whole page for vegetarian meals. Wheelchair accessibility: Spacious and no stairs if I recall correctly. Dietary restrictions: Good vegetarian and I think even vegan options.
Absolutely the best restaurant in Kingston. Family owned and operated for 30+ years in the same charming location. I’ve been a regular customer for the past five years since discovering it myself. I’ve yet to leave disappointed. The food is consistent, perfect portions, priced accordingly and always piping hot! Oh, and delicious! If I recommend any restaurant to Kingston visitors it’s always Amadeus. Keep up the fantastic charm Brian! If you’re lucky enough to visit during Oktoberfest be sure to try to pork hock platter.
Not much to look at on the outside but do go on in. The restaurant goes way back on the inside. A nice cozy feel to it. The food is traditional German and FANTASTIC! It had been a long while since I'd enjoyed a REAL German dish. I literally savoured every morsel! The prices and servings are great. I highly recommend it! A-1 in my humble opinion. FIN.
I cannot comment on the authenticity of the food, but it tasted good! The Goulasch soup was a little lacking in substance though with two small pieces of beef. The service was greatly lacking. I understand that there is a shortage due to covid, but the waitress made me feel as if I was being a bit of a nuisance by just being there. I would recommend a visit for the atmosphere and food, the hidden patio at the back is greatly unsuspecting, but beautiful.
