I've been a dedicated member of this gym for some time, going nearly every day, sometimes even twice a day, and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. The staff is incredibly friendly and always greet me by name, which makes it feel like a true community. The equipment is top-notch, and I appreciate the modern, welcoming atmosphere, from the lighting to the overall culture.nnHowever, I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to a few issues with the locker room. The sauna is often not hot enough to provide the full relaxation experience I’m looking for, and the steam room could be cleaner—part of this is due to towels being left behind by other members. Additionally, it would be great if the locker room offered more amenities, such as shaving razors, Q-tips, and shaving creams, to enhance the overall experience.nnAside from these minor inconveniences, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would still highly recommend it to others!
By far the cleanest gym I’ve ever stepped foot in and the equipment is the best you can get. My favorite classes have to be the spin classes by Cam and Jordan, specifically the tempo ones. The playlists are awesome and these instructors are incredible at directing, motivating, and pushing you to hit those moves! Cam and Jordan stand out because not only do they have the skills to direct heartpumping fun choreography in 45 minutes, they bring the energy every. Single. Class! Joined for the gym, staying for the spin!
Great experience thus far. Love the variety of the classes. Steam and sauna options plus the recovery room. Hope to get more into lifting and etc in the equipment area soon. Plus, free parking. Haven't used the kids day care yet but what a great additional service to add. Couple things to change to make it 5 stars: the cafe. The food and pastry options need some work for the prices they charge. This gym is surrounded by many great cafes and food options in the area. Also their new 8 hrs cancelation policy or else you get charge $15 for late cancelation. This is brutal. There should be at least a 3 chances kind of policy before the charge. I've already been charged twice simply because I've forgotten to cancel my class in time. I'd rather take my chances and join a class last minute in order to avoid.
This gym was great when it opened, not too crowded, no lines for the shower there are only 5 showers and functioning towel holders, mounts, etc. As of today, every two weeks one more mount breaks, which gives me no place to put my towels and while I've complained to the front desk nothing has been done about it.nnThe sauna room is supposed to be a place to relax with some peace and quiet, but you can hear the bass blaring from the spin class. The person who designed the gym clearly does not have a clue about acoustics or how sound travels.nnAnother con is the $15 fee to cancel classes. As you can see people are pissed off about the 3 strikes being removed and switching to a penalty system. Equinox is offering a month off and I might be tempted to return there if nothing is fixed. Wonder if the gym will do anything about it because like everything in Canada, there are barely any competitors so mediocrity is acceptednnPros: Great classes, knowledgeable instructions, friendly front desk staff and has all the machines you can think of.
This is one of the best gyms in the city!! There are many negative reviews that are simply not warranted. The gym is in impeccable condition and there always machines available. The sauna and steam room are the ultimate perk and there’s barely ever a wait for showers, 5mins tops. The staff listens to community feedback and implements changes accordingly so we know they are listening! Getting charged cancellation fees for not cancelling or showing up to a class is standard for any normal human being. I switched from F45 and they charged almost $300/month for a 45 minute workout with no facilities and cancellation fees. Altea has 3 floors of workout space, state of the art workout equipment, steam room and sauna, access to so many classes and a lounge with couches, tables and plugs to work.. Literally can’t get better than that!
