The staff at Alta Vista Animal Hospital are all incredible. The Dr doesn't try to pressure me into unnecessary treatments and understands financial constraints. He is compassionate, thorough, gentle and incredibly kind with my dogs.nBelle had an injury as well as a scary growth. The staff cleaned and dressed her wound, and we has results for the test on her growth in under 24 hours.nI consider myself to be incredibly lucky to have been referred to this amazing clinic.
Several vets here have been treating my friends animals for years, and this year my senior kitty got sick so I took her here. They ran blood work and diagnosed hyperthyroidism. They immediately prescribed medication and over the last few months she has rapidly recovered, her mood and energy have improved and I'm happy to see my baby happy. Reducing 1 star because I had to research on my own to find out about iodine radiation treatment for hyperthyroidism as a curative treatment for her issue. Otherwise, attentive, gentle and quick.
I rarely give bad reviews, but I have to complain about this clinicnThe first time, I entered through the back door and noticed that the hygiene conditions inside were very poor. There was a strong unpleasant odor, and products and medications were piled up everywhere. It seemed like sick animals and all the doctors were in the same space.nButthere is a very nice young male veterinarian helped us. He was very nice and repeatedly asked if I wanted to deworm my cat on-site or buy the medication to take home. When we went into the room, he was holding treats for my cat, and while my kitten was eating them, he gently administered the vaccine. You could tell he truly loved animals!nnThe second time, we were attended by an older Indian doctor. His Indian accent made it difficult for me to clearly understand his English. He wasn't very gentle when giving the vaccine to my kitten, When I told him that I still had some unused deworming medication at home, he insisted that the medication he was prescribing was special and that mine wouldn’t work for ear mites… He insisted on giving me the new medication.and without informing us of the price, he prescribed deworming medication that cost 200 CAD. Anyone who has owned a pet knows that deworming medication is dosed based on the pet's weight. He gave me six doses of medicine for cats weighing 2.5-5 kg, which means that if my kitten exceeds 5 kg in a few months, the medication will be unusable. Whether it can still be used or not is another issue. He also strongly urged me to neuter my four-month-old male kitten, which I found very unprofessional. Anyone with experience raising male kittens knows that neutering too early can cause urinary blockages. Male cats don't go into heat, and some may never do so in their entire lives. The neutering surgery should be done after the first heat cycle.nnI definitely do not recommend this rude Indian doctor for your pets. He seems more interested in making money and is quite experienced in that area.
Dr. Munjal has been amazing doctor for my little baby. We got him neutered today and it was a smooth process. We were given clear instructions what to do and what not. I generally have a lot of questions when it comes to my dog but the staff helped me with all of my questions. My dog looked healthy after the surgery, it will take him some days to recover but thanks Alta Vista members for taking care of it well. Highly recommend!
The most wonderful place for treating your pets. They always take the best care of my sweet Sesame. Lovely and professional team, Dr. Munjal and Serene went above and beyond to make my cat feel comfortable any time we have to go in.
