We sat right next the window where we could see the water in the valley. The view was breathtaking and I could not stop looking outside while I was eating there. We ordered seared scallops and braised short rib for dinner. We enjoyed both of them, but what really stood out was bread! It looked a bit burnt outside, but the slight burnt gave deep flavor and both my husband and I loved it so much : I cannot wait to go back there for another anniversary and try other food. Seafood pasta looked smelled really good!
I have to start off by saying I never give 5 stars for a place I visit once because I think that comes from consistency but this place just blew me away! Everything was amazing! The waitress was honest and gave really good suggestions. The bartender was the same an extremely fun person! The food was just A class, I would say probably the best food I have had in BC in the last 10 years, the rigatoni was OMG the sauce was beautiful the beef just melted in your mouth. The Gnocchi was great with a beautiful balance of flavours. The desserts was just magic specially the pistachio cakes! Make sure you go here if you are staying at Villa Eyrie! Thank you to the chef and the staff!
Worth it for the views alone. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. Eggs Benedict was delicious, the hollandaise had a lemon zing which I really liked. The potatoes were crispy and just enough seasoning. Had a great Caesar as well. Would have given 5, but one of my poached eggs was overcooked and it took awhile to get our drinks. Limited breakfast menu, so would have gone at brunch instead. Overall... recommend and we'll be back. Returned with some visitors to the island. Tried the Spaetzle. Good, but the Benny is better. Our friends enjoyed their meals, and the service was very good.
Restaurant staff told us the chef is a little sensitive to feedback - he has a reputation for serving bread with burnt crust despite it being a common complaint amongst customers. Staff words, not mine! Wow lol Out of fear of a possible angry chef coming at us, we washed the bread down with wine! When we asked for more butter, he totally passive aggressively served us cold butter that isn’t particularly spreadable I can see why he has an ego though - the mushroom ravioli was legitimately the best pasta we’ve ever eaten in our lives. We actually had to order a second helping. This is a great place to go for pasta, just skip the bread. The chef has undeniable talent, worthy of stepping on eggshells to enjoy his cooking. Again, hard pass on the bread and you’ll be golden.
Absolutely Perfect! We took my Mama here for a special Birthday. It was an amazing location with fabulous views of the inlet. The food was outstanding! If I could rate a 10 I would! The service was perfect! All together made this Birthday a great experience for her. We will DEFINITELY go back . Probably the BEST meal we have had in years! We'll done! Thank you.
If I could give the Alpine 6 stars I surely would! This is my new favourite restaurant on Vancouver Island the service was very professional and warm. The maître d' went out of his way to seat us with a fantastic view, by request. He checked in on us to ensure we were enjoying our meal and thanked us when we left. The food exceeded all expectations. Best eggs Benny I have had in over a decade. And the house roast potatoes were the best I've ever had, seasoned with fresh rosemary and cracked salt. The chef really understood his seasoning. The views speak for themselves. And the pictures don't do it justice. You really have to see it for yourself. We will return again and again! Excited to try lunch and dinner too! And maybe hear some live music by the grand piano Vegetarian options: My granola bowl was flavour packed, bright and a great portion size! Parking: You must drive up a steep incline to arrive at your parking
Where I'm from, it's rare for restaurants to have both great food and great views, so naturally I was very excited to try out the Alpina Restaurant during my stay at Villa Eyrie Resort. For us, the restaurant certainly lived up to its reputation The food was very well balanced and flavorful. I was told that the spaghetti aglio e olio would be "a little spicy" and while it did have spices in it, it wasn't overly hot, and I could imagine that even people who don't like traditional spicy food would like that dish. Additionally, the service was top notch. We luckily got seats with great views each time we visited, but we observed the waitstaff going above and beyond to move other people to the seats they wanted.
Since it reopened years ago under it's current management, we have been regular visitors to the Villa and Alpina. We have got to know Cindy, Jack and their team and are treated to deluxe service and excellent meals every time we dine/stay there. It has become our go-to place for special occasions - birthdays, Mother's or Father's day, entertaining guests etc. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and brunch on weekends. The regular menus have an excellent variety of dishes - meat, fish and veggie options. The desserts are superb. They also have theme dinners e.g. the German BBQ on Father's Day see photos. When we stay there, Cindy makes sure we have a lovely stay. Jack, who runs the kitchen and bar, is amazing - always ready to whip up a cocktail ad hoc depending on your tastes. I can't say enough about this place. We are never disappointed.
It was located in a beautiful resort, tucked away from the city but less than half an hour from downtown Victoria. The place was elegant and sophisticated. We asked to be seated by the window with the best view. The view of the Como lake was amazing. We ordered the charcuterie board and It was delicious and did not disappoint. The portion was humungous and perhaps good for 4 people, we couldn’t finish it as we were saving rooms for the rest of the meal. For the main entree we had the seared scallops rissotto sweet tasting butter like texture scallops and the rice was cooked perfectly and the prosciutto wrapped sable fish A flaky fish but also smooth and silky, with the crunch and saltiness from the prosciutto balanced with the creaminess of the potato mousseline. A dinner priced well for the portion, flavour and quality. We will definetely come back for the food and might stay for a night or two the next time we visit. Must be awesome to wake up during sunrise with a view of lake and mountain ridges.
Mediocre at best. Took my family here for Easter supper. Service was incredibly slow. Food was just ok! Think my bill was just over 300$ this place had a great view great lay out but missing something. If I want to fine dine you would think it would be $ well spent but here they can’t even cook a steak pics will be posted. I gave a second star based upon the plated food not for how it tasted but how it looked, Presentation looks great. Beautiful views. As a follow up review this is so typical of a restaurant to say we have no booking for you! That’s ok it was booked under my wife’s name. Every time I send an email in they never get looked at when I experience bad food. Non the less here my 2 star review stands. Maybe In the future I will try it again but not anytime soon that’s for sure.
