CANADA'S OLDEST FOUNDRY Alloy Foundry has been producing sand castings since 1840. Originally an iron foundry, they have produced everything from cannons and farm implements to stoves and hi tech industrial castings. Today they are a small jobbing foundry, casting in iron, aluminum, and bronze, specializing in short runs, at times as low as one unit. They work closely with designers and renovation specialists to bring new products to market or bring back that missing historical artifact. Electric induction furnaces, expert sand molding and a dedicated work force have allowed us build on our historic past.

I submitted an order 3 months ago and they acknowledged it. Several emails later and no response from them and my order was not fulfilled. Don't waste your time because they don't respond to your requests. I try to shop locally but with this service, why would I bother? I can get the same product from the USA, faster, and cheaper. Seriously, don't give them any money because they certainly don't deserve your business.

I brought in a bronze statue in July. They were supposed to cast a base. I have been waiting for four months. I have phoned numerous times. The foundry has my statue and I haven’t had a return call explaining the delay. Had I known that they work this way I would have gone elsewhere. As far as the quality of their workmanship I haven’t a clue.

We have bought several metal works from this company and they are top quality. The owners, Linda and Karl, are gracious and interesting people. Linda even lent us some products to help our dogs out as a personal gesture.

On October 24, 2016 I ordered a sign to match an existing sign they had produced for us six years earlier. They took full payment in advance ($370.00). One month later I called to find out if they had made any progress in filling the order and was told that the sign had not yet been cast. I asked for an ETA and the salesperson told me that the owner would return my call. I heard nothing. Three weeks later I went into the store and talked to someone who I presume is the owner. This person told me that the sign would be ready for Christmas. Christmas came, and went, and no sign arrived, nor did I receive any communication from Village Metalsmiths. Finally having had enough, I went to the store to determine whether we were ever going to get this sign and was once again told that, after over 3 months of waiting, the sign was yet to be cast. I asked for, and received, a refund. If you have months, upon months, to wait for your sign then, by all means, place an order with the Village Metalsmiths. Otherwise, my best advice is the stay clear of this operation.
