L'Alliance Française est née en 1883 à Paris sous le patronage de visionnaires comme Jules Verne, Ferdinand de Lesseps et Louis Pasteur.
Aujourd'hui, le réseau mondial des Alliances Françaises compte plus de 1000 établissements présents dans 138 pays et accueillant près de 400 000 étudiants.

Créée dès 1902, l'Alliance Française de Toronto (AFT) est un organisme canadien sans but lucratif dirigé par un Conseil d'administration canadien. Son originalité réside dans sa double mission qui consiste à développer l'enseignement de la langue française et le goût des cultures francophones dans le monde.

Agréée par le gouvernement fédéral canadien, l'Alliance Française de Toronto (AFT) est la plus grande école privée de langue française au Canada avec :

Cinq centres dans le grand Toronto : Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, North York et Oakville
Plus de 6000 étudiants par an
Un effectif total de 70 enseignants qualifiés
Une grande variété de cours : cours pour tous les publics, cours de groupe ou privés, cours en entreprises, cours pour les fonctionnaires de la fonction publique, camps d'été pour des enfants…
L'Alliance Française de Toronto est le seul centre officiellement accrédité dans le grand Toronto pour la passation d’examens (DELF/DALF, TCF, TEF) délivrés par le gouvernement français et reconnus sur le plan international.

L’Alliance Française de Toronto développe également une programmation culturelle valorisant les artistes, les universitaires et les écrivains franco-ontariens, mais s'efforçant aussi d'accueillir dans toute la mesure du possible des intervenants français et européens. De plus en plus étoffée et diversifiée d'année en année, la programmation culturelle propose une véritable expérience d’immersion avec plus de 130 événements par an : conférences et tables rondes, expositions, concerts et cabarets-chanson, projections de films ou encore activités à caractère socioculturel.

Alliance Française was founded in Paris in 1883 by a group of visionary men including French scientist Louis Pasteur, business magnate Ferdinand de Lesseps and writer Jules Verne.

Today, over 400,000 students learn French across an international network of over 1,000 schools in 138 countries.

Established in 1902, Alliance Française de Toronto is a registered charitable organization run by a Canadian board of directors. Its uniqueness lies in its double mission of promoting the use of the French language and developing the appreciation of francophone cultures.

Alliance Française de Toronto is accredited by the Canadian government. It is the largest private French language school in Canada with:

Five centres in the GTA: Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, North York and Oakville
Over 6,000 students per year
Over 70 highly qualified instructors, selected for their excellence in teaching French as a second language
A wide range of courses including courses for children and adults, group courses and private tuition, courses for businesses, courses for public service employees, summer camps for children, etc.
It is the only officially accredited centre in the GTA to hold examinations (DELF/DALF, TCF, TEF) endorsed by the French government and to deliver internationally recognized French language diplomas.

Alliance Française de Toronto also offers cultural programs featuring a broad range of artists and academics from Canada, Europe and beyond. With diversified programming including over 130 events per year, Alliance Française now provides a real cultural immersion through concerts, lectures, round-tables, art exhibits and other social activities.
