Split a large curry chicken meal with my coworker with a side of plantains. Absolutely incredible. Easily the most tender and flavourful chicken, which I’ve never witnessed with other boneless curry chickens. Huge portions, service was incredibly quick, and it’s just a great no nonsense place. Will absolutely come back
A solid find and will legit be my new go to place for Jamaican food. Delicious and generous portions. The lady handling the kitchen and front all by herself was so nice! We ordered: - Jerk chicken large - Mix fried chicken and BBQ chicken large Both came with a side of coleslaw. DEFINITELY try their homemade hot sauce if you like spicy food. That stuff had me coughing I have medium-low spice tolerance lol.
Amazing Fried/Jerk Chicken seasoned to Perfection! The Coleslaw is so creamy and good! The lady who served us gave great customer service and even gifted us a complimentary extra coleslaw. The amount of food your seeing is 2 mediums at roughly $9 each. Good pricing and experience. This will definitely be our new JA spot in Hamilton.
Nobody Know Food Like Me, Cause i tried almost every joint especially caribean joints. Let me tell you cutomer service is number 1, the lady running the restaurant is sooooo nice and hardworking as food would display that. This is a true hidden gem, as the chicken is moist and juicy, forget all other caribbean joints as this is my go to place when i want to eat authentic jamaican cuisine at its finest. Hats off, as the prices are very fair, i love Jerk so i got 12 pieces of chicken, plantain, jerk roti, 2 large oxtail rice all for $55.00… chicken pieces are only $2.00 what a deal, should be double that price given the quality and taste.
review date: february 4 and 19, 2022 customer purchase date: february 2,3,13,18, 2022 the all-seasoned jamaican cuisine ASJC is located between james and hughson on barton street. paid parking is available on the street, and free parking can be found on side streets. they have been at barton for 18 months at the time of this review. they used to be at king and cochrane previously. the front exterior of the store property might not be aesthetically pleasing to the eyes; however don't let that dissuade you from trying out the wonderful food that awaits inside. upon arrival, there was a middle-aged lady sofia who is the owner. she was polite and friendly with answering my questions as a 1st-time customer. the ASJC: -welcomes phone-in orders recommended if you are managing your time, online orders and walk-in's. -roti is a one size fits all deal -rice dinners come in 3 sizes to meet everyone's hunger and budget demands. -accepts cash and debit payments. i picked up a large jerk chicken with rice and coleslaw $12, a chicken curry roti $11 and 2 patties $2.50 each...all-in : $31.60 incl. tax. for what i got, it would stuff two adults no problem. -jerk chicken w/rice: meaty, fall off the bone, tasty, lots of chicken meat, and not much chicken bones. rice was cooked proper. meal has a spicy kick to it. coleslaw was very good. after i deboned the chicken and placed all food contents into my glass dinner container, to see what i'm really getting, i'll say, do not be fooled by the small size of ASJC's styrofoam container! fair price, and ASJC gives a lot of food here. patties: tasty and baked proper. chicken roti curry: fair portion relative to price. has a strong, spicy kick to it. roti shell, chicken and curry sauce was fresh. large bbq chicken with rice and coleslaw feb 3/22: rice was cooked correct, chicken comes with a sweet bbq sauce flavor deboned was plentiful. you can choose what sauce/gravy you want for the rice; i chose the curry gravy. good portion relative to price. coleslaw was the same as feb.2nd, excellent. overall this is a good option, although i liked the jerk chicken better. large jerk pork with rice/peas + steamed vegetables feb 18/22: generous portions of rice and pork meat. the pork meat was cooked just right, easy to chew and digest. very little bones and fat. i would def recommend this menu item as a solid option. imo i like the steamed vegetables better over the coleslaw. *understand that both the jerk chicken and roti meals are distinctly different from trinidadian fare, in terms of the flavoring, the type of curry sauce used.* other: you can tell by the food, and the portion serving, that the lady owner is hard-working, and doing the best to put out a positive food experience. imo the prices are very fair for what you get. -large rice & meat dinners typically are yielding 6 cups worth of food, once chicken/meat is deboned. again, that's excellent value. it is nice to have a caribbean downtown-location option where the business is open 6 days a week to purchase meals. bottom line: i would put the ASJC into my caribbean/jamaican food rotation. i will return to the ASJC and try other items, and would recommend others to give them a try, if they haven't done so already.
I couldn't wait to try this place, bc can't get good Jamaican food back home. I ordered the small oxtail, added plantains and a Jamaican patty. It was so mouth watering, succulent and tasty - not spicy. They give you alot of meat for your order and worth the $12.99. I had leftover and ate it later. Will order again b4 I leave and try the jerk chicken.
Ordered through uber eats, medium sized jerk chicken, rice n peas with plantain & med curry chicken, rice n peas with coleslaw. We did not get either the coleslaw or the plantain. Peas were dry & there was no jerk sauce. Curry was a bit too salty. We called a few times to ask/let them know but there was no answer.Food: 3/5
This, right here, is THE spot. They do the rice properly. Food has a small amount of heat but they keep it in check. Good cuts of chicken. Tastes like the food I grew up eating. I have found a new favourite Caribbean food place. It’s about damned time.
This is one of the best Jamaican cuisines in Hamilton! I wanted to get the jerk pork but they sold out so I had the jerk chicken instead and it did not disappoint! My cousin had the fried and BBQ chicken; I tried some and wow it was so tasty!! The food was so fresh, flavourful, and super affordable for the amount you get. Staff were friendly, I would highly recommend coming here.
Not good, at all! Seriously, this is a salty nightmare. Unimaginably bland, zero flavour...unless salt is a flavour. If you want quality Caribbean, go to D Hot Shoppe in Burlington. If you want a heart attack from sodium intake, come here.
