On Tuesday July 30 my daughter went to the Emergency department with a very sore throat and advised the doctor that she had been exposed to Strep A.nThe doctor refused to do a swab. She explained that she had preemie twins at home and was concerned she would infect them unknowingly.nThe finally took a swab after she repeatedly insisted. She was told the results would be there in 24 hours. She waited 48 hours to call back for results and the nurse that answered the phone refused to look for the results and rudely explained that the hospital would call once they got the results. Jump forward to the middle of the night August 3 and my daughter is having trouble breathing, has a temperature of 104 and is unable to get out of bed. At 9:15 am she calls the hospital again with the plan to call an ambulance if they do not have results, because by now she is so sick she is afraid she is dying.nThe nurse that answers the phone finds the results that have been there for days and states that someone should have already called her.nI believe we should support our small local hospitals but with that being said, the staff needs to realize that to garner community support, they need to show a modicum of concern.nA sanctimonious doctor and a thoughtless, lazy nurse is all it takes to bring someone to deaths door and ruin it for all of the great staff at the hospital. I will be following up with hospital administration but due to the seriousness of this complete lack of concern for the health of their patient, I am posting this to warn others that even though a local hospital is nice, competent medical care is even nicer.nGo to Woodstock or London. Your life is worth the wait.
Went to emergency today in extreme pain from an infection and blockage of my saliva gland. Wouldn't wish it on anyone btw .nThe staff were extremely thoughtful and caring. Even though it was a long day I still greatly appreciate the care I received! They had me on iv fluids for pain and cortisone for inflammation as well as antibiotics for infection.nI felt so much better, I can't even describe the relief!nThe attending Doctor sent me home with a month's supply of medication, hopefully will last till I see the specialist. I am so grateful for this hospital and staff! Thank you so much
If I could give this a zero I would. I went into the emergency with severe stomach pains. I mean I could hardly sit. The only good part about this emergency visit was that I got admitted fast the rest was less than satisfactory. The Dr on dutyn a large woman with very greasy hair had no compassion, wasn't friendly and hardly asked any questions. I told the nurse about a big bulge in my stomach that disappeared but caused the on set of the pain. She decided to treat me with Tramadol before asking me any questions. After some time the pain continued so she decided injecting me with Dilaudid would be a good idea. So bandate solution. Once Dilaudid kicked in I was feeling wonderful of course I am high after all. So she decided after 3 hours she has no idea what is wrong with me and to go home. And if it happens again come back. What kind of a doctor is that. She was the most unpleasant Dr I ever came across. It is very sad that we are so short on Dr that we allow these kinds of people to be our care givers. She lacked every quality a Dr should posses. So I guess I will go again when it flares up and hope that I get a better Dr and I hope it's not something that is super serious. They sure don't care. Free health care lol
Came in at 10am on a Monday. Their was only three others in the emerg. Thr wait time clock said it would take an hour to be seen. Purposely told the receptionist after sitting for 2.5 hours, I'd like to wait just outside on the bench. Was told no problem, and they'd add a note. After waiting another 1.5 hours, I reminded her I was still out there and didn't leave. After 5 hours total wait, I went back inside to see what's going on. Was told she thought I left. So now we're close to 6 hours waiting, and still I'm sitting here. Was told I could wait up to 8 hours. How is this acceptable? I came in for a blood clot that I thought started moving to my lungs. You'd think they would do a quick blood work and a simple ultrasound. Honestly, the worst hospital I've been to in Ontario 40 + years.
Grateful to the emerg doctor who was working October 1. I went in with pain in my side while 19 weeks pregnant. After running a few tests he decided to add an ultrasound just to be sure of diagnosis, which made all the difference. He was on the phone right away with a surgeon in woodstock and I was in surgery that night for a ruptured appendix. In the long run this has turned into an even bigger life saving diagnosis, for myself and my baby, so I am so thankful this doctor decided to followup with the ultrasound and not just release me with antibiotics. Thank you!
