We received a letter from Alden in August stating that we had not paid the mortgage in two months, despite the fact that our July payment was received - and cashed - over three weeks before. The letter went on to state that if I don’t pay my July payment - which has been paid - and my August payment within 10 days, my home may be foreclosed. After emailing the bank president, I received an email telling me that due to our yearly escrow increase, our July payment was short $80, and that’s why this issue occurred. We never received any notice of the increase. I asked why no one called us over $80 because it would have immediately been rectified - and was told that someone did call us. I confirmed with my husband that he’d never received a call, nor did I. Our phone history also shows that Alden never called us. I then received a call from someone confirming that we had never been called; the payment was sorted out and we were assured that nothing was reported to the credit unions as a late payment. Fast forward a month - I’ve had to reach out several times to let them know that they absolutely DID falsely report a late payment, my credit score has dropped 70 points, and one of my credit lines reduced my limit drastically due to the huge change in my score, which further damaged my credit. All over $80 and someone who couldn’t pick up a phone to give a customer the courtesy of a call. I worked for many years for that credit score. A long time, not a single late payment on anything in over 12 years - and a single false report has caused fallout that will effect me for years to come. I appreciate that Alden has corrected the error in reporting, but it should never have happened in the first place and will cost my family thousands in interest rates on anything we try to buy now because the damage has been done. This experience has been extremely stressful, and I am so disappointed. Avoid Alden at all costs.
I just went through Aldenville Credit Union for my auto loan. Lowest rate I have seen and the approval process was so easy. Jessica made sure everything got done in a timely manner so I could go pickup my new car. I can't say enough great things about my experience. Thank you!!
I'm very disappointed in my most recent experience with Alden Credit Union. I tried to take out my second vehicle loan with them and they were not able to accommodate my needs. There were lots of back and forth emails. They asked me if I wanted GAP insurance more than once when I had already asked for it days prior, in an email. They told me they didn't have my insurance binder when it was sent to them. They did not fully explain the process and it had been a long time since my last car loan which caused more delays and problems. Also, even though they are open until 4:00 they said they were leaving earlier, at 11:00 and the other at 1:00. I had taken the day off from my new job to get this done and I only had a ride later in the day. I was told "We serve other people other than you." HORRIBLE customer service. I finally canceled the loan and found someone else to finance me for LESS money and they had time for me. Also I had been paying on time and paying EXTRA and they still said I was on their first tier and didn't qualify for a lower rate. I asked them in an email how I could get to a higher tier and my question was ignored. I did not feel valued as a client at Alden Credit Union.
Trash company, anytime I call it’s “let me transfer you” and all I ever get is VM. No one has any answers to anything. Trash system with trash employees. Needed a specific number that they would refuse to give me, was finally able to received the number and I asked when they had access to it and the rep proceeds to tell me that they ALWAYS had access to that information. So watch out as they will Willingly keep information from you. Again Trash company, hopefully never need to run into them again, and if you have the opportunity to look elsewhere please do as everything they do is manual. Nothing is online!
I have been a member since 1980's ...I've never had a problem until now...I was signed up with online banking when it was Alden credit union...then it switched over to Alden credit union...They took the online banking away when they switched over...now I can't get it back...ughh..I never know what is in my acct unless I go to a bank closer to my house to check my balance...I don't want to mess around with a third party that may or may not be SAFE!! Smh ridiculous..
I opened an account here when I moved to Massachusetts in 2012. Staff are all very friendly. Locations are convenient. I've run into a few issues however. First and, for me, most annoying, is my account has been fraudulently hit MANY MANY times! Seems as though every time I've used my debit card at a gas station, in the store and at the pump, 24 hours later, my debit card is locked because they caught fraudulent activity! While yes, I appreciate the activity being caught quickly and nothing has processed through my account, it's extremely annoying because you are then with out a card for 7 to 10 business days. This has become more inconvenient within the last 2 years because I relocated back to CT so, when issues like this arise, I'm an hour and a half drive to handle the paperwork. It happened Tuesday night, in which I got a text Wednesday morning notifying me of a fraud attempt. The staff was phenomenal over the phone but, I made a time to come up Thursday to sign papers and withdrawal the money from the account so I can access it while having to wait for the new debit card. So, I drove the hour and a half to the bank, only to find out, they are closed today. Would have been nice if they had told me when I asked them about coming Thursday that they would be closed. So, I had to stay in Mass for the night so I didn't have to drive an extra four and a half hours up and back Friday. Otherwise, if you are local to the area, this is a good bank. Just wish I didn't chronically have fraud issues.
Worst credit union on Western Mass. had them for over 8 years and was always the same with actitud. Spanish clerk girl is so rude, treating customers disrespectful. Had a situation and supervisor instead of trying to resolve he was supporting her when she was wrong. Closed my account right away best thing I have done, should have close my account years ago. I’m Spanish but not that kind of personality that she represent. Interest rates at a jokes you, not missing at all. Thanks for nothing Alden.
Very poor customer service especially for a local credit union. Taking my business elsewhere.
I have been a member of Alden Credit Union for many years now and have nothing but good things to say about them. Kim Seaver is great at what she does, offering helpful advice in a friendly and kind manner. She is always able to answer my questions over the phone, email or in person in a very timely and professional manner which I know from experience comes from going to a local vs. national bank.
TLDR: You lost minimum $6,000’s just in interest and payments because of a $2 LATE FEE. READ THAT AGAIN. Have had a loan since last September 18' its June 2019 now. Problems with account, over a $2 late fee. My credit score dropped -100 points. I called in and was professional and said very plainly I need to resolve this however you can. I told them I thought it was a clerical error however I was willing to take responsibility if we could have a show of faith and 'goodwill adjustment' made to my account to remove the late payment. They sent me a letter in the mail saying simply it was my fault and there was nothing that they could do to help me. I told them I would make an extra payment, or I could set up auto pay, anything to fix the problem. They were absolutely 100% against helping me in any way. Still trying to resolve months later, no help from Alden. They couldn't care less. *UPDATE* It is now November 2021. Few years since my "late payment" and negative review. Google said a couple hundred people have found my review helpful, GOOD. I have told every person I have met to never go to Alden Credit Union. I can’t tell you how happy I was to go in to Alden, pay off my truck, close my account, and tell them I was buying a $35,000 Lexus from someone else because of how terrible they were to me. You lost minimum $6,000’s just in interest and payments because of a $2 LATE FEE. READ THAT AGAIN. That’s how you lose money people! They probably didn’t care for a $10,000 truck loan, but when they heard about the Lexus they were upset. Overall worst business experience I have ever had in my life. But it taught me to avoid business like Alden at ALL COSTS.
