Very rude and unprofessional front desk!nnI went in today to get my blood test done and had a truly disappointing experience with the front desk. I was shocked when my simple question was brushed aside with, “I only do blood tests, so do you want to do it today, Ma’am?”nnAll I had asked—very respectfully—was whether there was a reason my blood reports were not yet fully uploaded, since my doctor informed me that some of the tests he requested hadn’t come back. Instead of an explanation, I was met with a dismissive response and no effort to clarify the situation.nnLater, I went to another Precision Laboratory at Tawa Centre in Edmonton, and the experience was the complete opposite. The staff there were professional, courteous, and empathetic. They apologized, explained that the tests could not be retrieved at that time, and told me that a new blood sample would be required. They even accommodated me on a priority basis, acknowledging that the delay was due to the lab’s error.nnI sincerely believe more attention should be given to training front desk staff in customer service and basic communication. A little respect and clarity go a long way in making patients feel cared for.
Absolutely zero complaints once you’re actually with the staff. They’re professional and great to deal with in person. Once the samples were taken, my doctor did receive the results very quickly, which I appreciated.nnHowever, the wait times here are extremely frustrating. The “save-a-spot” or appointment system is pointless, as you’re rarely seen anywhere close to your scheduled time. The pace is painfully slow, and it’s tough to understand why it takes so long.nnI really wish Alberta would allow some privately owned laboratories, similar to how it works with x-ray clinics. You notice an extremely huge difference when private companies are involved because they need to earn your business and clients. Unfortunately, these public labs don’t care much about client service or wait times, since there’s no real competition.nnIt would be great if they could hire more staff or bring in some fresh, young faces who can help improve the efficiency. The experience would be so much better if the front-end operations matched the quality of care once you’re finally seen.
Two issues to report.nnFirst waited over 30 minutes past scheduled appointment time. I arrived early for my appointment only to wait and wait and wait some more. What is the point of making a scheduled appointment then?nnSecondly, there was more than one person named Richard. Calling out Richard without some form of differentiation, only causes confusion both for the patient and staff. Please use a Last Name initial if staff are not allowed to use the last name.
Reception leaves something to be desired. Stepped up to the desk. The girl sitting there said she will help you and left. The other girl looked at her and said where is your helper? Looked at me and said absolutely nothing and left me standing at the desk . Finally someone came from the back and said someone will be with you shortly. Terrible customer service and just plain rude.
I always have a pleasant experience with the staff at this lab. They are friendly & get you through your appointment as quickly/efficiently as possible. If you have never been to this location, the first time can be a little tricky. The sign for DynaLIFE is on the building facing a main road, but the entrance to the lab is actually through the main building doors on the opposite side. There is plenty of parking and the building is wheelchair accessible.
