This is a great museum if you like to see 100s of old trinkets and other old miscellaneous items. It is not a place where you can learn the history of the area. The displays are very dark with very little information. We were very disappointed. Fortunately the entrance fee is only a CAD$5 donation.
This is a hidden gem. There is so much to see. It's only too bad that the city doesn't include the industrial heritage center. There is so much potential for the city and Port Alberni's history.
They are so helpful here! They were setting me up with information on some family history there and found out where family was buried. I am so grateful for all that they do : The layout of the museum as well is lots of fun to explore. They’ve done an incredible job.
Ap much knowledge and history, be sure to open all drawer exhibits too. Staff are awesome.
