Nice addition to Port. I don't drink beer so it was nice that they had other options with or without liquor. I ordered the Halibut burger but I didn't read how it was prepared, it is a fishcake fyi. It tasted good but when you are expecting a hunk of Hali and get a green from the spinach flat patty. I will be honest I was super disappointed however my own fault for not reading the whole thing. I ate it, it was good the fries were great. The other meals were not disappointing. The service was great too
Excellent pub food. Servings are great. The food tastes great and the reason is probably the ingredients were fresh. We were there and they had a large order which took a lot of time from the kitchen staff and the server came to apologize for the delay. They respected our presence and made effort to let us know we were not forgotten.
Nice location with decent food offerings. Good ciders selection. My friends didn't love the beer options but I enjoyed my nachos and cider. They messed my order up for food and gave me a different sandwich I accepted it but a discount would have been nice.
The spacious and comfortable interior is impressive. The food is delicious and the servers are friendly.Food: 5/5
I’ve been to Alberni Brewing multiple times, tried burger, chicken burger, steak dip, and multiple drinks I don’t drink beer so this is not a beer review. The only reason I go there is with friends and because people keep giving us gift certificates too there. The food is edible but far from good so if it’s good food you’re after, eat somewhere else. It’s also really loud in there which makes conversations with your group challenging at times. I will go back, still have a couple gift certificates but it’s definitely not my go to place, nor a place I would recommend it if someone asked me to suggest a good place to go eat.
A delightful brewery/restaurant. An excellent selection of craft beer for most tastes. I especially enjoyed the German Dunkel, a difficult brew to find in Canada. The menu has a good selection of enticing consumables. The burger is tasty and their rich bowl concoction is excellent. Inside and outside seating is available.
Great drinks and appetizers, sat outside at a picnic table. Server was friendly and good at his job
The burger and the buns were good, my friend ordered veggies and they were mostly stale. Another friend ordered the chicken/rice bowl some veggies had gone bad rotten! the selection of taps were good, my beer was flat but they happily swapped it for another one which was again slightly flat. So to sum it up, if I'm paying $30/person for food and a drink, I'd expect better quality. Service was good.
The Vegan Burger was a black bean nightmare… 1 As I bit into my veg burger, black bean slop poured out the sides. 2 The bun it was on was horrendous, gluten-free cardboard. I’m not sure why the gluten free bun had to be dragged into the vegan option. The server didn’t seem to know the difference between the two when I asked about the bun and why it was so strange. 3 It was drenched in a strong vinaigrette that was extremely overpowering. If the chef can’t pull off a black bean burger, maybe they could offer a beyond burger patty option instead. Leave the gluten-free stuff as a separate option too… Otherwise, the experience was OK - it is very much like a sports bar. Service was mediocre, the server did the bare minimum. It was very loud and difficult to carry a conversation. The truffle fries were great, but we won’t be back. Vegetarian options: The vegan burger needs a major facelift.
Attended yesterday for the first time with some friends. We thought the pub was well laid out with nice decor. I wasn't expecting much for beer as I'm not a great fan of local beers. Had the XAtlantic beer which I reluctantly ordered on the advice of the waitress. Sure glad I did. This is an incredible beer! The pub food was awesome also. Had a nacho platter and calamari. These were great and not like most pub foods. The waitress was excellent also with a good sense of humour with us as we "kidded" her a lot. We enjoyed everything and certainly plan on returning soon. We're from Parksville but were here for a kids hockey game. Love Port Alberni!
