The Airdrie Public Library is excellent. I’ve been coming here for about 9 years since I moved to Airdrie. They have so many great and free programs available. My kids signed up for an Among Us game night that was virtual and had so much fun. I have the TRAC app. I downloaded it to my phone and now I always have my card digitally. I can request items and they are put on hold. You can see what is going on with your account. It is always spotless and well organized. They have computers and photocopying. The cutest children’s section. It is a nice little library. Today I saw a man that was harassing one of the ladies behind the desk, saying he needed her help but couldn’t understand her through the mask. He was so rude. Even my 9 year asked what was wrong with that guy. I said I didn’t know. She said he’s killing the vibe in here, this is my happy place. Staff shouldn’t have to put up with that kind of abuse. If you are unhappy with the FREE services available, drive down the highway there are plenty of libraries in Calgary. It is also really cool if you get a printed receipt when you borrow books it shows you how much money you would have spent on the books if you bought them from a bookstore. There are even video games you can borrow. Anyways, thank you Airdrie Public Library for all that you do for the community, still providing support during this pandemic and being a wonderful happy place for kids of all ages.
Book selection is large and the staff is friendly. 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to find some books to read for free. They also have audio books, DVDs, public computers, and a kids area with toys and books for younger audiences and a computer and an Ipad, both restricted to educational programming. The DVDs are separated into two categories and areas. One is for kids with, on the right side of the library from the entrance, past the computers. The other is connected to the video games outside of the kids area on the left of the entrance. The audio books are also there with the adult movies and video games, behind you from the corner, on the other side of the table. They also have a New Nintendo 2DS XL as well as a GoPro camera to take for a while. They also have tons of video games to check out. This includes about 25 games for the 3DS they work for the 2DS for those who don't know, Wii U games, about 100 Xbox One and PS4 games, and some PS3 games. Overall, excellent place to go if you want to read books, check them out, take your kids there to get books, check out video games for free, study for an upcoming exam, or grab some DVDs for you or you kids. I apologize for the long review, but I just had to rant about how great this place it. Easiest 5 stars of my life.
really happy there is a library here in airdrie, so we dont have to drive down to calgary . i really like it and its also my happy place , and good way to read without having to buy books
Went by on a Friday and the place was closed due to a staff meeting. Closing for the entire day before a weekend for a meeting? Sounds like those teacher PD days devoted to day drinking. You have literally one job. Now the onus is on the public to check your website to ensure you're open before bothering to drive over? Any book I reserve never comes from the Airdrie branch, so if you're literally a book distribution site, then the least you could do is put reserved books in the inner foyer for collection. Enjoy your hangovers.
The library has been a Godsend during this pandemic. Very friendly and helpful staff! Current and unique books, video games, movies, etc. Flexibility with holds and special requests. Safe and calm environment, absolutely love it here! Looking forward to a reopen, a staple in our community
I love our library and the variety of programs offered. I’ve been in to meet political candidates at a forum, and utilized many baby programs when on mat leave. A great family resource as they can connect you with Community Links and other local programs available. Our little guy loves coming in and playing with the toys now, and the computers are well tailored for kids first learning. You can’t beat the free library card, it’s easy to request material from the network across the province and it’s there quickly. Plus the more I learn the better it gets-streaming music, streaming movies to borrow, interactive kids books apps, and I’m still leaning about perks!
Very busy day in there today being the kick-off to the summer camps for kids but still a great place to spend an hour or so.
It's a wonderful place to get knowledge. It has good amount of collection. It also has children area and collections too! Staff is very helpful and supportive.
The Airdrie Public Library is great. It is always clean, open, and organized. When they don't have what I'm looking for, I can almost always find it in the Marigold interlibrary system and can place a request for it. The clerks are friendly and helpful. I also appreciate that the video games can be checked out for three weeks as other libraries in the Marigold system only have videogames for one week
Well curated, clean, a wide variety of offerings of books and DVDs, lots of activities for different age groups and super friendly staff.
