A gruff welcome belies a real gem for breakfast/brunch in the Gastown district. Pastries, cookies, and other baked goods fill the windows of a display case in front while a big semicircular bar fills most of the center of the cozy space. You really can't go wrong with the specials. The open kitchen provides a clear look at the staff moving back and forth while preparing dishes providing great entertainment while chowing down.

No grill. Undercooked eggs, cold hash browns which there were very few of. Canned, flavorless pepper strips. Good flavor to non-browned sausage. Food is well sourced, and my waitress very nice. A $20 price tag to boot. I would suggest this place only to someone needing GF or well-sourced food. Or someone who likes "hip" over "good."

Looks like a set from a vintage period movie. Delightful treats and friendly service. Would definitely go again.

The staff and the food are on a higher plane. I had the breakfast sandwich on croissant with a maple bourbon latte and was transported to a happier place. The food is made with care and heart which are the best ingredients.

One of my favorite places to sit with a coffee and watch people. When you walk in you first notice the display of pies and pastries, but for me the best dishes are their chef's features.
