I had a very negative experience with ACCES Employment. They completely failed to follow up with me or provide any assistance in my job search. I never received any calls, emails, or any form of communication from them. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of support and guidance they provided. I found my time with ACCES Employment to be a complete waste and I would not recommend them to anyone. They are not helpful, and I have no idea why they could be helpful. I did not get anything at all from them. Overall, I would rate my experience with ACCES Employment a 0 out of 10.
For new immigrants to Canada, ACCES offers one of the best services with respect to preparing you for the Canadian job market. There's loads of workshops to help with resume writing, interview prep, Canadian workplace cultures, etc. The staff are very nice and really helpfulness.
I was one of the participants at their online IKEA customer service training. I was told that the hiring manager mentioned my name, they all liked me during the training, I definitely can get my foot in the door, the best in the group etc etc. At the end of the training, I applied to their sales member position. They gave me an interview with the new IKEA downtown location’s manager. He started the interview by telling me that they consider me for a higher position with a better hourly wage. It went perfect. After waiting for 3 months, they told me that they decided to select among their own staff. Yes their own staff. After wasting our time and giving us hope none of the 20-25 participants was hired. This is my 6th year in Canada, and I came to one conclusion: this country is a big joke and a hoax. All the so called “immigrant supporting” job opportunities, trainings blah blah end up nowhere. Trust me. Change your name to an Anglo-Saxon one then magic happens! They start calling you for interviews. I had many immigrant friends been to this place and their classes, programs just name it. None was hired or had a real opportunity for employment after. There are thousands YouTube videos about how to write resumes. Instead of wasting your time, watch them instead. I damn the day I put a step here. Lived in the states and been to Europe many times but this is the most discriminative country I ve ever seen. They just know how to hide it.
Not an employment agency. All they do is give you "the skills" to "find" a job. Lady to my face asked why I only had retail on my resume and despite my Journalism background, told me to apply for a print shop job. I'm more depressed than ever. No one helps you or cares. Edit: Nadia is really nice and seems to care though
I do not know anyone they helped get a job. Things were hard for me in the beginning even after having an MBA degree and 6 years of work ex at a bank I wasn't able to find a job. Went to access they were blank faced told me they can help with my resume. My resume was already good because I knew what I was doing back home I lead a team and hired people too so nothing they could tell me I didn't already know. What I expected from them was to connect me with hiring agencies /HR or corporate volunteers that help newcomers/ job expos or things like that but they said they don't do that thing. They kind of sit there all day looking down upon people that come in whilst doing nothing productive in their own jobs. There is nothing actual tangible that they do there. Its just passing time and printing resumes and talking surface level stuff there Honestly don't know what they get paid or funded to do. I have many friends who've had the same experience the one in Toronto is especially worse.People are rude, cold and just make you feel small. There were a couple people who were nice though. One gentleman from Kenya was especially nice. God Bless him. He was a recent immigrant himself others were a piece of work.
For an employment company, they really know how to ghost you after an interview.
It is a very welcoming place which was great since I was nervous as it was the first time I was job hunting, and wasn't sure what to expect. But all the staff was very helpful and understanding and made sure to communicate with each and everyone present there. Although I ended up getting a job without the help of ACCES but they constantly sent me job updates and information about openings. And were regularly in touch. They also provide courses which would help getting jobs in various fields. Definitely should give it a go if you're looking for work.
My experience with ACCES was a complete disaster from start to finish. I tried to enrol into the Second Career program with their assistance, and was fed incorrect information the entire time and wasted a month completing the application. My career counsellor, Monica, did not even know what kinds of programs were permissible, nor did she know that they could not exceed 52 weeks within the current iteration of Second Career. She has been with ACCES in this role for over 5 years. I often felt like Monica wasn’t listening because she frequently contradicted herself and withheld information when asked a direct question. Instead, she preferred to spend our meetings touting her 100% success record. I was pressured to accept an offer of admission to a college immediately at her behest — spending money I didn’t have, and making it difficult to feed myself — then shortly found out that my program type and length do not qualify for funding, when I emailed the college administrator about my participation with Second Career. I complained to the manager at ACCES, Manisha. Manisha tried to rectify the situation by offering to refund my OCAS application fee, and offering some Walmart giftcards so I could afford groceries. Getting this refund was a real hassle— she had me provide a void cheque and sign some paperwork for direct deposit in two weeks, and when the time came, she said she would mail a cheque. I ended up having to pick it up myself at their office. Manisha wouldn’t close my file with ACCES for weeks, even though I stated that I wanted to close it multiple times beginning with our first interaction. I told her many times that the process of dealing with this agency had negatively impacted my mental health. I literally had to call their office and DEMAND forcefully for them to close my file once and for all, and even then, they kept connecting me to the wrong people and wasting more of my time. Avoid this place at all costs. Their people are not good at what they do— they lack the basic knowledge and skills required to perform their jobs. They are in no position to be offering guidance to job seekers.
This agency peddle low skilled jobs to you and lied to you to sign up and then secretly closed your file so that they get paid bonus from government. These staff such as Shannon Marsh are not person of integrity and honesty. They have to lie to you to protect their pay. They are just a modern slavve trader.
I had worst experience with employment manager Shannon Marsh. She pocketed my governement funding for her own salary, it's criminal theft. Already reported to the government supervisors. Don't trust them easily, these people have many faces.
