This tour is perfect for anyone who wants to learn about Chinese culture, cuisine, and canadian Chinese history. Bob is the perfect tour guide, he brought us to some of the most amazing places and we ate some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had. I am so happy I found this tour snd my only wish is that we had time to go back and eat all the food again.
Highly recommended. If you enjoy food wrapped in cultural history then this a must do. Bob is a wealth of knowledge and a gracious host who has a passion for sharing his love of all things culinary. Arrive hungry for food and intrigue
Bob made the Chinese experience, culture, food and history come alive. The stops on the tour are wonderful with the jewels being the Chinese Garden, the Chinatown Storytelling center and of course all the amazing bites of food along the way. I would recommend this tour to everyone. Bring your walking shoes and rain gear if the clouds are grey. Definitely take note of all the places visited, you may want to go back and spend more time at a few.
A phenomenal experience. Bob is fantastic, informative and a great guide. He is a true food and cultural historian. This is a must do when in Vancouver. Highly recommended!
We started at the Sun Yat Sen Chinese Classical Gardens, where Bob gave us a great introduction to Chinese culture, food, and the history of Chinese Canadians in Vancouver. The tour included pastry, tea, bbq, dim sum, and more. We went in with high expectations after reading others’ reviews, and were not disappointed! Great introduction to Vancouver. We would highly recommend for anybody with a “taste” for adventure!
We had a wonderful time on this food tour. We loved the deep dive into the cultural history and the start at the beautiful garden, which has been the lived experience of the tour guide. He is very active in the community and is passionate about the local food and the people and culture of this fascinating place. Food and tea were great and the stories around it even better!
Wow! What an experience! I’m a local and absolutely loved Bob’s tour. My group and I thought it was one of the best tours we’ve ever done. Foodies and cultural aficionados, book your tour!!!
Had a wonderful tour! Bob goes out of his way to explain stuff and he has tons of information...if you are a foodie, this us a must! Totally recommend it. The garden was closed during our tour but other stuff made it so interesting.
Had a great time on this tour. Sampled some of the best Chinese food I've had in quite some time. The roasted pork with crispy skin was amazing. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn about the Chinese culture in Vancouver BC.
This tour is incredible! We deeply appreciated the cultural and culinary knowledge that Bob provided. We started off in the Dr Sun Yet-Sen garden, made our way to the Chinese medicine shops, bakeries and grocery stores, where Bob explained the significance, history and use cases of various foods, then had some amazing Dim sum and finally ended off at a tea shop where we received an overview of Chinese teas and their preparation. 10/10 tour!
