72 Tavern & Grill

I had a great experience here a few years ago and decided to make the mistake of coming back. Started off my adventure with an order of tenders, which turned out to be four lukewarm nuggets. My friends had ordered the chicken and waffles, the silver-dollar sized waffles would be okay if the meal wasn't also $20. I got the breakfast burger, which was great and cooked to a perfect medium rare, however, I handed my soggy homefries to a manager that didn't really seem to mind that it was an issue. I've also never seen a bar that didn't offer drinks, though based on the rest of the prices I would have had to take a small loan out anyway.

The food here is just as beautiful as it is DELICIOUS! The restaurant is SUPER CLOSE to the Polar Express 2 min drive so if you are going on the train ride i HIGHLY recommend this restaurant afterward. The staff was beyond friendly and so attentive. This was positively the most perfect restaurant experience we could have asked for we WILL be back even if we have to drive from cuse just to eat!!

We decided to grab a bite before a hockey game. The decor of the restaurant was nice, but sadly that's where the good stopped. We arrived at 4:15 on a Friday and had not made a reservation the game wasn't until 7 and the restaurant had maybe 7 tables seated. After contemplating how they would be able to seat us, they were able to accommodate us luckily. While waiting a supervisor/manager? Came out to the desk and was incredibly rude to the young hostess, I was mortified for her. The woman was slamming her hand on the desk telling "you can't seat people where there isn't someone assigned". This happened infront of our party and another and it was rude, unnecessary and inappropriate. We sat a high top and started with the wings in their tavern sauce. The wings were good and crisp but wish we picked a different sauce. I ordered the pulled pork poutine and wish I had selected something else. The pork had a tang to it as if it is pickled, the tavern fries have an unappealing seasoning and the gravy is tasteless and not the consistency of gravy. My husband got a pizza which wasn't terrible. My daughter got a kid hot dog meal which I'm not sure anyone can mess up a hot dog, so that was fine. When he left an hour later at 5:15 more than half the restaurant was open so I'm not sure why not having a reservation was such a big deal. Our waitress was attentive and nice. We wouldn't return though, waste of $100.

Staff was nice, but food wasn’t good at all. The trash can nachos would be good if there were actual flavor in the queso. It’s grainy and flavorless. The BBQ chicken melt wasn’t a melt at all, it was a room temperature piece of chicken between rock hard bread. The French onion soup has me dehydrated from the amount of salt. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone if you paid me. Very disappointing.

Watched the 2022 World Cup final here and originally they had the holiday music playing with the game muted on the big screen. But after some requests, the manager turned the sound on and it was fantastic. I wish MLS and International fütbal soccer games were shown more often and advertised. The tavern would've been packed if any of the World Cup games were advertised or promoted by the owners. My friends filled one whole table and there were two other tables of fans. Good food and great service!

First time there. Really nice on the inside. Appetizer came really quick. Boneless wings were great. The 72 Burger was really good with crispy fries too. Took a bit longer than expected to get the food. Was worth the wait.

I have driven past the "72 Tavern & Grill" many times in my excursions through the city of Utica, but never took time to stop. This evening I was invited to meet some family members there for dinner. I accepted. Now I can say I regret I did not discover the place sooner. The atmosphere is definitely sports orientated with large screen TVs circling the entire establishment with a huge screen behind the bar. The staff is ample and efficient, our wait times were very short. The menu is surprisingly diverse, even featuring children's choices. Four meals were delivered to our table, all nicely prepared with fresh ingredients, and nicely presented. The 72 staff is attentive and quite friendly. And yes, the restaurant is clean! At the end of the meal, the staff presented us with coupons good for $5 off our next tab. Thank you 72. But it's safe to say, I'll be a return customer! Well done guys and gals.

My first time here. Non game night so it appeared they weren't even open. The beer was completely flat and returned. Food choices were not anything to rave about and overpriced for what they were. Food tasted fine. I guess in perspective, if you wanted to eat just before an Aud event this would be an obvious and decent choice. However for any person, night, event that didn't involve the Aud, I'd recommend going somewhere else. It was super clean and the staff were great. Just not my kinda place, and that's ok.

TLDR food was cooked by someone that thinks 2 week old un-refrigerated is safe to eat, and dishes were washed by someone that thinks axe is a shower. Over priced trash. Party of 4 ordered fried chicken it was ice cold, had to send it back twice and it was still cold. Ordered fried pickles got 4 for $12 and they were cold. The rest of my party ordered grilled sandwiches that were as dryer than a new york winter. the plates and glasses looked like they were washed in the river, complete with old food still stick to them. The only thing good about the whole experience was the waitress was very polite and and constantly checking on us.
