Finally found BBQ PERFECTION and in the friendliest place you will ever find. The rub is spot on! Not too much salt, pepper, paprika, etc. Just a nice well rounded flavor that compliments the deliciously smoke saturated, moist, tender, forget the knife meat! Freddy is a master chef! My friends and I will be back for sure!

The menu highlight of our family Staycation this week was definitely 517BBQ! We ordered the Throwdown for our kids and grandkids and chose Brisket, Ribs and Pulled Pork. We also had sides and the absolutely delicious cornbread. Then there was dessert ... Texas Sheet Cake described by our son as " Whoah, lights out good!" Also, the Peanut Butter cake that some stacked with the Texas Sheet cake for chocolate - peanut butter deliciousness. We have ordered from other BBQs in town but they just don't compare. This meat was so moist and flavorful, we can't wait for leftovers. And the only work we had to do was get out of our chairs for 2nd and 3rd helpings!! Thank you 517BBQ!
Stopped by this place to check it out. The Brisket plate is a great value and taste great. You get side with a mound of meat and it is honestly enough for my Wife and myself to share. I have also had the nachos with chicken, it was pretty good and again enough to share. The staff is friendly and one time they had homemade peanut butter cookies which were delicious. Highly recommend this place for some quick bbq.
517 catered my Dad’s celebration of life and everything was wonderful. They were very quick with getting back to me when I called about their catering service, they had my order and what I needed to feed 45 people quickly put together, while being professional and friendly. I added desert the following day of ordering with no problem. Everyone at the gathering for my Dad throughly enjoyed. You won’t be disappointed.
Food was pretty good, got brisket nachos. Good portion for the price. Everything was cut fresh too order. Will definitely be going back in the future. Only thing I can say is I wish mine had more cheese. The wife got chicken nachos and if my toppings were like hers it would have been amazing!
We decided to try this restaurant for dinner last night after seeing someone post on Facebook asking to support them because covid has been tough. The drive-thru and service were nice. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich with cheesy potatoes and green beans and a pulled pork plate with cheesy potatoes, mac and cheese, and cornbread. When we ate dinner at home, we discovered the pulled pork plate looked and tasted just like turkey. So I'm hoping someone messed up. The cornbread was crumbly and would fall apart in your hand. Sides were nothing spectacular. Might have liked it better if I actually got to eat pulled pork. It was okay food, but there are better barbecue places in Lansing. I won't be back.
Reasonably priced, delicious barbecue for two of us and under $20. We weren’t sure if they were open. Exterior is a bit overgrown and drive through only open but the smoker was making our mouths water so we figured we’d try it. Got the three meat dinner with three sides and everything was tender, flavorful, and good. The ribs had plenty of meat on the bone, great smoky flavor, and tender with just a bit of crisp on the outside. Brisket was not overly fatty but still tender. Pork was good and everything was better with the sauce. They don’t have their own sauce, just sweet baby Ray’s, which we like fine. The cornbread was delicious and they threw in a couple of huge pieces of peanut butter sheet cake. The one off star is only due to no homemade/variety barbecue sauce.
Great food and great people. Got the pulled pork sandwich and cheesey potatoes. Very good.
On 2/9/2020 I stopped in to 517 BBQ on a recommendation from a friend. I was not disappointed. I ate in and had their brisket sandwich with mac & cheese and baked beans. I'm a big guy and there was plenty of food. The brisket was done to perfection and their bbq sauce is amazing. Overall a really good meal with two delicious sides. The food came out quick and hot, and the service was terrific. A top notch BBQ joint for those who enjoy the real thing. I'll be back to try their pulled pork and ribs. Thank you for a really great tasting meal.
