I was driving through South Dakota on a road trip and saw the road signs across I-90 and was intrigued by the Dances with Wolves displays and seeing an authentic Wild West town. Tim and Michelle were awesome! They were so nice and welcoming to the town. Definitely the best part of the tour was the great conversation I had with them! Great displays from Dances with Wolves, town feels authentic and alive! Definitely recommend, even worth a drive to get there and the admission price. Not at all a tourist trap!
We absolutely loved this old town. It was so much fun exploring the old buildings and antiques. The employees were awesome and engaging. The sheriff even deputized our son. Such a unique place to stop off of the highway. You could spend 30 minutes to 2+ hours here.
My husband and I loved this!!! It’s now one of my top favorite tourist attractions. We are from SD. This was very information and fun for us! Highly recommend and fun for all ages. They have popcorn and beverages in the saloon! Very cool spot.
We left Chamberlin City & stopped in here. If you have ever seen Dances w/Wolves you will absolutely be overjoyed with the museum that we walked through. It was incredible inside. Then we walked through this town. It was awesome to see how the West was back in 1880 times. A lot has changed since those times. What a trip thru the old times captivated in this quaint town. People were friendly. I loved the long horned steers at the back left of the township. Made the walk a bit more rustic. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent here. We'll worth the price.
I loved it here! It felt small and authentic. You can walk through most of the buildings. They had a Post Office, a Mayor's Office, the Jail! Particularly, the Saloon. The territories' US Marshall hangs out there & bartends ; Everything I could imagine being in a western settlement. A lot of fun!
I thought it was quite quaint and fun to see such a town since I don't think there are many like it. The movie prop section was not really that interesting, a quick walk-through was enough for me. I liked seeing the buildings and all that, but all in all I wouldn't spend more than 30 minutes here. I think a cheaper entry ticket would be more warranted. Something like 5 to 8 dollars max. I believe I paid something like 10 or 15 dollars. It was not crowded during my visit so you could really imagine yourself in an 1880 town.
Didn’t know this place existed but there were quite a few billboards on the highway so I thought I’d take a chance. What an absolutely fabulous place. I will definitely come back when I have more time and when it isn’t 38 degrees Celsius !! You could easily spend a couple of hours here and still not see everything. Highly recommended.
Way cooler than I thought it would be. Needs better advertising. Thought it would just be old buildings to look at from outside. But it's much much more than that, glad the wife and I stopped on our road trip! Well worth it!
I can't say enough about how amazing this place is. The Dances with Wolves movie props is wonderful. The old buildings bring the old west back to life. I love how you can walk into every single buildingVisited onWeekendWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
