Oh my goodness this place was awesome!!! The seafood chowder in a sour dough bread bowl is the absolute best!!! The staff is friendly and very accommodating!!! I recommend this place to everyone just for the chowder alone!!! Yummy!!! Thank you for the greatness! I wish I could have this where I live. Such a beautiful restaurant and pub!!! The coconut and curry soup was the soup of the day and we tried that as well and was very tasty
A friend and I had lunch here. I had the baron beef with side salad and it was absolutely delicious, went well beyond my expectations. My friend had the fish and chips but was a little disappointed on the portion sizes but fish was good. Service was friendly but seemed like she forgot about us at the end as we waited 20 mins for the bill. Parking was tricky. We'll be back as overall we were satisfied.
Our family loves this place. Been coming here for decade and finally managed to post review!Great food and service! My favourite is Jerk chicken what a tasty sandwich can't get enough of it! Burgers are great and kids love they food as well. Wife loves the chicken curry!
Amazing seafood chowder. We both had the seafood chowder in the sour dough bread. I have never tasted anything so amazing. We got the last two bread bowls and everyone was ordering it around us. Our server was lovely.
Had an excellent lunch here salmon burger, and my wife had the chowder which was also great. It's been a few years since I had eaten here and definitely feels like a big improvement in this area. Service was great, and it's such a cool old building. Definitely recommend!
On our way from our Hotel in Victoria just after Christmas we were on our way to Sooke and beyond to the Point-No-Point Resort we decided to stop for lunch at this very interesting Pub along the Highway 14 Route.. very delicious soup and fish and chips with a very tasty brew..the atmosphere was very friendly and the staff were very welcoming... a very warm environment to stop for at mealtime ...so very pleased to be on our way along Highway 14 once again as we had the opportunity to experience fabulous soup and very delicious hamburger…the atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming…
I love the heritage look and feel . It gives the feeling of the cowboy era . Of the 6 of us going out for dinner my fish and chips were a 4 out of 10 and other meals were average . Maybe once the highway is finished the pub again will gain its excellent status that it once had
Well my partner wanted to come here for lunch as it was her Birthday. We always try to support local, but wow where we unimpressed. First off we both ordered beef dips. Now I understand it's a "pub" but come-on. 1. The beef was barely warm. 2. Au Jus seemed like it was just sitting in bowl for hours. 3. We got offered a refill on our ICE tea, as we where driving so didn't want to drink. They forgot about it until we where kind off done our meal and they charged us for refill. 4. Now I could be splitting hairs but if its refill it should be free. I mean we paid $3.50 x 4 for glasses that where 75% ice. 5. Then we get to the tip part. 15% was min. I mean what am I tipping for. You taking my order and then giving me my food. There was no "above and beyond service" It was ether 15% or no tip. Let's just say for $68 bucks what a waste of money.
Well I hate leaving this review as I have enjoyed myself at this place in years past but I will say I definitely feel a decline in service as of recent. I’m not sure if it’s the new epidemic of staffing issues, or maybe this place feels like it’s doing well enough and more business isn’t welcome? Or they don’t need to make any more money, they are all set? Or it’s the particular person they hired to answer their phones.., Idk. In any case, problem solving trying to do a gift certificate and literally take someone’s money isn’t their thing. Snooty attitudes definitely are though. Fast forward to end of my call with them, asked to speak to a manager and was told they can’t do anything and if I want to speak to the owner “good luck with that”. Well I guess I will be taking my business elsewhere that actually values the people who help keep their restaurant running.
You need to stop here! If you are a tourist and just exploring the beautiful beaches along the islands coast this pub is the place to end your day! Absolutely lovely environment, dog friendly area near the patio, perfect spot amongst the trees and the adjacent highway is not very loud or busy. The drinks are awesome and they serve a great offering of local brews. Since being on the island, we just had to order seafood and we were not disappointed. The salmon burger and fish and chips are crazy good and perfect for those looking for a great island experience. We also got gravy with our fries which was tasty, light, and not too greasy. There's an extra surprise here if you're a Leafs fan
